牧江村郊野山藏有一怪，赤面獠牙，名曰垃圾人，他身世神秘，以垃圾为食，日遇村妇马秀娟，将其掳掠。马秀娟通过与垃圾人的交往，发现他虽丑陋骇人，却心地单纯。但天不遂人愿，“单纯”的垃圾人却将马秀娟视为配偶，囚于废弃厂房。矿山老板徐东南徐西北两兄弟欲借炸山除垃圾人之名在野山非法拓矿，全然不顾马秀娟安危。而垃圾人通过马秀娟逐渐了解人类的尊重与爱，遂将其放归牧江村。马秀娟得知徐东南阴谋后为救垃圾人与之抗争，最终被绑于山上，垃圾人为救马秀娟与徐东南死命相搏，后被徐东南炸死。环保组织声明垃圾人出现乃牧江村的环保意识薄弱之恶果，垃圾人本无罪，罪在人心对环境的态度，并呼吁民众善待环境。。The film accompanies Magaye Niyang, a star of Touki-Bouki, a 1972 classic directed by her own uncle Djibril Diop.
